A man was left was serious injuries after being stabbed by his best friend because he wanted to test a “stab-proof vest,” according to court proceedings in Canada.
Now, the Edmonton man pleaded guilty on Tuesday, to criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
The court heard that the victim had been bragging about the vest and invited his friend to stab him. However, the vest did not work as advertised, and the victim, Justin Harder, 18, was rushed to a hospital with a bleeding wound to the chest.
His life was saved by emergency surgery.
Calvin Clackson, 21, was handed a six month prison sentence in a plea bargain agreement.
"It was criminal negligence by the defendant to stab his friend," the judge ruled.
Clackson and his girlfriend had gone to visit Harder 106 Avenue and 116th Street.
"Harder had what he believed is a stab-proof vest and asked Clackson to stab him while he's wearing the vest," the court was told.
"Unfortunately, the vest did not work, and the knife went through the vest and into the chest cavity of Harder. He was left seriously injured," the court heard.
