to break the current world record.
Sadly, two skydivers collided with each other in the air during a jump over.
The two collided while their parachute was open. The collision caused their parachute to collapse and sent the men plummeting to the ground.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was taken to a hospital where he died. A third person was injured, but authorities have not released any information on the nature of the injury.
The two skydivers had been part of a group of about 200 professional skydivers, who participated in a week-long Skydiving event, which was held near the Eloy Municipal Airport.
Police identified the victims as Keiron O’Rourke, 40, of the United Kingdom, and Bernd Schmehl, 51, of Germany.
They collided about 200 or 300 feet above the ground.
Schmehl, who died at the scene, did about 1,707 jumps, 80 in the last six months alone.
O’Rourke, who died at a nearby hospital, had done 849 jumps in his lifetime, including 100 in the last six months.
