(Scroll down for video) A woman lost the love of her life while playing with a gun.
Justin Holt, 22, of Boca Raton, Florida, died after being shot in the chest by his girlfriend in a tragic accident.
Erin Steele, 20, took a gun, and while not realizing that it was loaded, fired it. She shot her boyfriend in the chest, police said.
The 911 call, in which the owner of the gun and another friend frantically called for help, was released by police in Boca Raton.
“There was a very bad accident. Someone picked up my firearm by mistake, and someone got shot,” the gun owner was heard telling the 911 dispatcher.
Joshua Henry, 23, brought the gun to the apartment of another friend where the group was hanging out, and they practiced shooting.
When they were finished practicing, Henry reloaded the gun and put it on the counter, according to Boca Raton Police.
Steele picked up the gun, pointed it at Holt and fired, hitting him in the chest.
Officers arrived at the apartment in Boca Raton, just minutes after the 911 call was placed.
Holt was rushed to Delray Medical Center, where he died shortly thereafter, according to police.
Steele has not yet been charged in connection with the shooting.
Justin Holt’s mother, Mary, 56, said her son was a family man, who just wanted to find a girl and settle down. “Steele was that girl,” she said.
They met about a year ago and they were inseparable ever since.
"From the first day he was in love with her,” Holt’s said.
