The future hotel |
People visiting the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, New York, will soon be able to lodge at a brand new luxury hotel.
Developers recently started building an ultra-modern hotel, which is scheduled to climb six floors high on 39th Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues. The hotel has not been named.
The $10 million, 70 lodge room hotel is scheduled to open in 2015.
"It's a growing area and there is a lot of demand for hotels," Kent Tse, the general manager of the hotel, said.
"We wanted to stand out from other hotels," he said. "Most of the hotels are very traditional looking, and we are going for a more modern look," he added.
Tse said the hotel, which is being designed by an architect based in Queens will cater to higher income guests.
Demand is increasing for hotel rooms in outlying areas because visitors are looking to be closer to their families, hotel consultant John Fox said, adding that a growing number of tourists in these pockets are feeding a market for cheaper accommodation.
