(Scroll down for video) A little girl was hospitalized after being shot by a 3-year-old girl, according to police reports in North Carolina.
The 3-year-old was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
Randolph County Police said that the girl was shot in a house located on Cameron Circle in Asheboro.
A woman in the house told police that she was cleaning when she heard a shot coming from a room where three children were playing. Investigators said that the children were alone in the room when the girl was shot.
The bullet went through the arm of the girl and in her abdominal area.
Police said that the woman, who was watching the children, was the mother of one child. They said that her boyfriend was the father of the other two children, including the 3-year-old girl who was shot.
Prosecutors charged William Monroe Simmons and Melissa Ann Mumpower with failure to secure firearms in the presence of children and with child abuse.
Police said that the child abuse charges stemmed from the poor living conditions of the children.
A judge set bail at $35,500 for Simmons, while Mumpower’s bail was set at $6,300.
