A man might lose custody of his own daughter after he raped his neighbor’s daughter inside the girl's house.
The 22-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting his 13-year-old neighbor. He then sent a text message to her mother apologizing for his actions.
Codey Everhart faces charges of rape and sodomy after he allegedly attacked the teen in Lake Lotawana, Missouri.
The 22-year-old father from Lee's Summit, Missouri, allegedly knocked on the window of the teenager’s house after his mother had gone to work on Saturday, and asked her if she wants to go out with him.
When the girl refused to leave the house, he asked if he can use the bathroom. Once he was inside the house, he threw the girl on a bed and had sex with her against her will, according to court documents.
Everhart later regretted his actions, and he sent a number of text messages to the victim’s mother saying: "Omg I'm so sorry. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made. I’m sorry, please don’t call the cops. I have kids. I will do whatever you want. I’m so sorry. I’m scared, I should've never said yes when she asked me to come over. I swear off girls altogether. I feel like my whole world is going to crash down on me. I'm worried. I am going to lose my daughters. Please call or text me."
After the mother questioned her daughter about the incident, her daughter confirmed the rape. That is when the mother called the police.
Everhart admitted to police that he knew the girl was only 13-years-old. He tried to blame the victim by saying that she had invited him to "make out". He denied having sex with the teen.
He is being held on $250,000 cash bond.
Everhart's father said that he would try to get custody of his son’s 4-year-old daughter.
