(Scroll down for video) A man wanted to chill after work, so he asked of his twitter followers to drop him off drugs after work. He also provided his work address on Twitter.
Sunith Baheerathan worked as a mechanic at Mr. Lube in Toronto, Canada.
He sent out a text message asking if anyone could drop him of "a spliff or two" after he finished his shift.
This tweet cost him his job. Baheerathan was unaware that police officers scour social media to look for people who break the law. After he sent out the tweet looking for drugs, a York Police officer responded to the tweet with a message: "Awesome! Can we come too?"
Baheerathan immediately deleted his twitter account, but not before posting another message stating: "My tweets are not serious, by any means".
The damage was done as far as his employer was concerned. The police officer contacted his boss and told him about the tweet. The oil-change shop, Mr. Lube, fired him immediately since the tweet was sent during work.
Mr. Lube thanked police, and they tweeted: “Thank you York Regional Police for your help and great work. The matter has now been handled.”
The York Police tweet response has quickly become a top tweet and has been retweeted nearly 5,000 times.
However, some Twitter users were not amused, asking the officer: "Don't you have any real crimes to stop?"
Police responded: "If you yelled out at a busy street corner about illegal activity while we drove by, we would also intervene. Think of Twitter as a virtual street corner.”
