An Israeli was severely beaten while he was visiting his rabbi’s gravesite in Uman.
The man, who is a member of the Breslov Hasidic sect, was violently attacked Monday morning while visiting the gravesite of Rabbi Nachman, located in the Ukrainian city of Uman.
The Israeli citizen, who had gone on a pilgrimage to the city, was seriously injured, suffering at least one broken rib. He is being treated at a local hospital and will be transferred to an Israeli hospital in several days.
The man, who had gone to pray at the gravesite synagogue Monday morning, was attacked by several thugs. The man said that it appeared that the suspects were drunk. The group shouted anti-Semitic slogans and engaged in Nazi salutes. Then, they began to hit the Israeli. The group fled from the scene. A doctor treated the man at the scene before being taken to the local hospital.
Several Israelis, who live in the area, rushed over to help.
