A yeshiva student is in critical condition after choking on food in the school dining room, according to rescue workers in the Israeli city of Bnei Brak.
The incident occurred in the Koznitz yeshiva located on Rabbi Tarfon Street in Bnei Brak. Yeshiva students observed how a fellow yeshiva student suddenly fell unconscious while eating lunch in the school dining room.
The yeshiva students called emergency rescue service. Volunteer emergency rescue workers from United Hatzalah arrived at the scene and performed CPR on the student until the boy regained consciousness. The boy was rushed to a local hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
Api Feldman, the director of United Hatzalah in Bnei Brak said: "We received a call about a 15-year-old yeshiva student who lost consciousness during a meal in the dining room. He collapsed while eating. It was unclear why the boy choked. He might have suffered a heart attack while eating."
Yehuda Zisso, a first responder on the scene, said: "The boy, 15, fell unconscious in the dining room. We gave him first aid and we performed CPR, including administering four electric shocks. We managed to bring the boy back to life before the boy was transferred to Schneider Hospital in Petah Tikva."
The family asked the public to pray for David Uri Ben Ita Perel.
