(Scroll down for video) Several ultra-Orthodox Jewish leaders including some Knesset members compared the Bank of Israel governor to Pharaoh, claiming that Stanley Fischer wants to murder all ultra-Orthodox Jews, according to a statement released by Knesset member Nissim Zeevi.
Nissim Zeev said: "This is not the first time the Bank of Israel governor has attacked ultra-Orthodox Jews in a racist way. He has a blind hatred towards ultra-Orthodox Jews. He is not concerned about poverty in the ultra-Orthodox Jews sector, and is riding the wave of hatred against ultra-Orthodox Jews.
"Interestingly, the governor is not worried about the Muslim population at all, which has doubled, but he is only concerned about ultra-Orthodox Jews just as Pharaoh. Pharaoh worried ‘lest they multiply’ and decreed that every child who is born to be thrown into the sea. The governor is as anti-Semitic as Europeans, who are concerned about the growth of the Jewish population.
"It would be interesting to know what he means by 'this can not continue’ when speaking about the ultra-Orthodox Jewish population problem. Thank God he will soon back go back to his country, and I have no doubt that in the United States he would not dare to express his hatred against Hispanics, Mexicans or other minority groups of the population."
In response, the Bank of Israel said: "In a speech, the governor presented a purely economic analysis." The Bank of Israel’s Stanley Fischer stressed that he was not referring to the high birth rate of the ultra-Orthodox Jews, which he welcomed, but their low-level of participation in the labor force, which he said cannot continue.
