Homework sheet with Ted Bundy and Peeping Tom |
(Scroll down for video) A teacher was suspended from a school after including a serial killer and a pervert, into school homework assignments, according to a statement released by school officials in Oklahoma.
The substitute teacher at the high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma, may be out of a job after including references to serial murderer Ted Bundy and Peeping Tom.
The substitute teacher was replacing a geometry teacher at Nathan Hale High School.
One question asked students to measure Ted Bundy’s imaginary ladder:
The serial murderer Ted Bundy has a 20-foot ladder leaning against his favorite tree. The ladder was placed at a 64 ° angle. How far up the tree does the ladder reach?
Another question referenced a Peeping Tom called "Creepy John":
Creepy John observed his neighbors with a telescope. Your apartment is 12 feet from the ground. John is 36 feet from the ground. If the angle of depression from the apartment of John is 47 °, how far are the two apartment buildings?
Caleb Starr, the principal of the school said that the substitute, whose name was not released, wanted to "engage students in order to get their attention with colorful questions"
Instead, it caught the attention of some of their parents. "The first thing that came to mind was that it's creepy," Christina Mattaliano, the father of one of the students said. "I do not know if he's trying to be funny or if perhaps that's part of the teacher’s personal interests," the parent added.
“When I saw the questions I simply freaked out. I think it was a horrible idea to include serial killers and perverts into school assignments. This teacher must be nuts. If I see this teacher back at school I will definitely pull out my children,” Jessica Harris, 32, of Tulsa, Oklahoma told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the creepy questions.
Starr said the substitute will not be asked back at Nathan Hale High School. It is unclear if the substitute will continue to work in other schools in the district.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
