Much is said about life in Israel; the challenges are counted, the fear of the various regional threats are often talked about, the unique difficulties entailed with living in Israel are recounted time and again, yet a recently published poll by the Central Bureau of Statistics which tracked the social trends in Israel during 2011 reveals that the majority of Israelis are very pleased with their lives in Israel.
88% of Israelis are content with their lives, and 52.3% believe their lives will improve in the near future. 88.1% of males are 'very' pleased with their lives, and 87.9% of females are pleased with their lives.
59.6% of those questioned in the poll stated that they are satisfied with their current financial state, and 44.7% believe their financial state will improve in the future.
90.0% stated they were happy with their marital life. Only 73% of divorcees and those widowed reported they were happy with their lives. This indicates that marriage has a positive effect on Israelis' lives.
86% stated they were pleased with their dwellings, 38% were "very satisfied."
7,000 Israeli citizens over the age of 20 were questioned for this poll
Roi, 27, told Tazpit News Agency he concurred with these findings: "It's fun to live in Israel. Thins here will only get better."
Dafna, 49, of Jerusalem, said she did not necessarily agree with all the poll's findings, but stated she loved Israel: "Israel is my country. I will continue to live here under all conditions, in spite of everything. This is the land of the Jews; we don't need any other place."
