(Scroll down for video) Israel has held its annual International Bible Contest for the 50th time this week. The winners of this year’s International Bible Contest were an Israeli of the city of Beit Shemesh and a U.S. resident of the State of New Jersey, according to video uploaded to the internet.

The Bible contest winners this year were Elior Babian of Beit Shemesh and Yishai Eisenberg of New Jersey, who is a student at Yeshiva University in New York.

The annual competition was held at the Jerusalem Theatre, in the presence of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Education Minister Rabbi Shai Piron. The prime minister asked the finalists the most difficult questions of the contest during the third round. This year marks the 50th Bible Contest, held annually on Independence Day.

“The International Bible Contest shows how the nation of Israel is dedicated to the Torah. I love to see all these young kids who are so well versed in the Torah. I can’t wait for the Bible contest next year,” Yona Saperstein, 67, of Jerusalem, Israel told YourJewishNews.com.

Several years ago, Avner Netanyahu, the 18-year-old son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara, won the prestigious National Bible Quiz for Youth in Kiryat Shmona, Israel.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
