Pile of $100 bills |
(Scroll down for video) A man looking for old magazines in garbage containers suddenly found $20,000.00, according to press reports in Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts man told a local television news station that he discovered more than $20,000 in the dumpster while searching for magazines in order to turn them into an art project.
The man living in Marlboro, who is a Brazilian immigrant, asked that his name not be published. He said he visits the Wellesley dump twice a week to find magazines to turn into art, and during a visit last month he found a book that has $20,000 to $30,000 pressed between its pages.
The man said he is trying to find the true owner of the book and is committed to searching for six months before deciding whether to keep the money.
“It is nice of the man that he was willing to go public with this story and return the large sum of money to the person who is obviously distressed after losing so much money,” Christine Loomis, 50, of Boston, Massachusetts told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the incident.
"This book has a lot of history to someone out there," the finder told the television news station. "My view is that I want to find the person, because it could be that someone put away the money to buy a house. What if that happened to me? I would have gone crazy?"
