(Scroll down for video) A meat market selling glatt kosher meat was caught by a private investigator recently, with selling non kosher meat, according to video uploaded to the internet.
Now, at least two lawsuit were filed against the popular kosher market in Los Angeles, California over allegations about inadequate meat certification.
The lawsuit filed last week against Doheny Glatt Kosher and its former owner, Michael Engelman, alleges fraud, breach of contract, battery and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
A similar lawsuit was filed Tuesday by a man from Beverly Hills, California who said he expects to add plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit.
Last month, a council of rabbis suspended Doheny’s Kosher certification after a video emerged, purportedly showing workers packing meat boxes at night without the required religious supervision. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is investigating the incident.
“It was very difficult for me when I received the news about the scandal right before the holiday of Passover. I couldn't believe that a religious Jew can do such a thing to his Jewish customers,” a Jewish resident in Los Angeles, California told YourJewishNews.com.
