(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested for bigamy after he deceived two women. The man was married to both women and had a son with one of them.
Flight attendant Germain Gardea, 38, deceived the two women by being married to both of them without them knowing the other one existed.
Gardea spent weekdays with Jennifer Saldivar and their son in Arlington, Texas, and on the weekends he spent time with Leslie Gardea, in the nearby city of Grapevine, Texas. The flight attendant was married to both women who lived about 20 miles from each other and they knew nothing of each other for over three years.
Gardea created fake online divorce papers and filed Saldivar’s taxes for her as a single woman.
His secret double life came to light when his second wife found him paying bills for his first wife Saldivar, whom she thought was his former wife. She contacted his “former wife” and they were both devastated when they learned the truth, according to local press reports.
“How can a man play women like that? It is just so wrong. Both women loved him, and they believed he was out working as a flight attendant, instead he lived a double life behind their back. It is outright nasty,” Martha McCann, 52, a happily married woman and mother of three from Houston, Texas told YourJewishNews.com.
Gardea, lost his job when the scandal broke, and was arrested for bigamy. However, a grand jury decided not to indict him, because it fell outside the statute of limitations.
"He does not deny it," his attorney Robert Bush said. "He apologized to everyone who was hurt, not just because he got caught, he knew it would come to an end, common sense tells you that this can only last for so long," Bush added.
After the scandal broke Gardea divorced his first wife Jennifer Saldivar, who had his son. He was ordered to pay $6,000 in lawyer's fees and child support. The divorce was finalized on Thursday on grounds of adultery. Germain remained married to his second wife Leslie Gardea and is living together with her in Grapevine, Texas.
