A nanny was arrested and charged with child negligence related charges after allowing a little baby to drink alone from a bottle resulting in his death, according to police reports in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The tragedy in Tel Aviv happened to a 5-month-old baby, the son of Eritrean nationals. The baby died Saturday morning, from asphyxiation.
Police arrested the baby's nanny, a foreign national from the Philippines. The father of the baby is incarcerated for offences due to family violence.
The mother of the child hired the nanny because of her work schedule. The nanny has been identified by police as a foreign national from the Philippines.
According to an initial police investigation, the baby was not feeling too well, and at around 7:00 pm the nanny was able to put the child to sleep.
At around 3:00 am the baby woke up crying, and the caregiver gave him his bottle and put him back to sleep as he continued to drink from the bottle.
In the morning, the nanny realized that the baby was unconscious and cold, surrounded with vomit. Magen David Adom arrived to the scene and pronounced the baby dead.
"Parents should learn from this tragic incident only to hire a professional who knows how to take care of children when they are in perfect health and also when they are not feeling that well," Rachaeli Weintraub, 30, a single working mother of two in Petah Tikva, Israel told YourJewishNews.com.
