(Scroll down for video) A U.S. man unexpectedly died after undergoing a routine wisdom tooth procedure, according to hospital officials in California.
Marek Lapinski, of San Diego, died after being subjected to a procedure to extract two wisdom teeth.
An ambulance report showed that Lapinski started coughing during surgery.
The Lapinski Family said he was given Propofol, an agent used for anesthesia and suffered from cardiac arrest.
Lapinski was taken to a hospital where he died. A piece of gauze was found in Lapinski’s throat.
Lapinski’s sister Natali, a nurse, said that after examining the medical records of her brother, she learned that he was given at least six sedatives by the surgeon.
"In talking with the nurse at the hospital, I was told that the doctor administered too much anesthesia," she said.
“For all those who fear the dentist this will just add to their fear. If the doctor was in any way responsible he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Lapinski was too young to die,” Tammy Carter, 30, who is a nurse in Los Angeles, California told YourJewishNews.com.
The family plans to take legal action.
In other wisdom tooth news, a teen couldn't stand the fact that she now has a few teeth less in her mouth with what to chew her food.
The teen cried and apologized to her teeth for cutting them out from her body, according to video uploaded to the internet.
Abbie Kritz, a Kansas teenager is going through an emotional period, after her boyfriend posted a video of her mourning the loss of her wisdom teeth while under the influence of pain medication administered by her dentist.
"I did it against my will, I would have kept you," she told her wisdom teeth, which was being held inside a plastic bottle while being driven to her mother's house.
"I loved you from the first moment," she continued.
Her boyfriend and the mother heard the unbelievable cries of disbelief.
"They were trying to help me chew and I did not accept them," she explained. "I could have accepted them," she continued.
Finally, Kritz came to terms with the situation when the drugs disappeared from her system. Meanwhile, Kritz seems to be taking all the attention with a smile from ear to ear.
"Oh my God, it was awful," she wrote on her twitter account. "I just remember wanting to stop crying the entire time, but I could not!" She added.
“We all saw videos how kids cry when they lose their pet or even a goldfish. I never saw an adult crying and apologizing to her lost wisdom teeth,” Deborah Simpson who saw the video told YourJewishNews.com.
It is unknown if the teen made good on her promise of putting her wisdom teeth back into her mouth.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
