(Scroll down for video) A little boy in Spain faked his own kidnapping in order to prevent his parents from attending a school teachers parents meeting, according to police reports in Spain.
The Spanish schoolboy, who was identified by police as an 11-year-old, faked his own kidnapping in an attempt to prevent his parents from attending a meeting with his teachers.
The boy, who has not been identified by name, sent a text message to his father on Monday afternoon saying he had been kidnapped on a street in his hometown of Limia Xinzo in the northwestern Spanish region of Galicia.
When his father called his son's mobile phone, the young boy, who was talking quietly told him how he had been nabbed by a man and was placed in a blue seat.
The father, who is a police officer in the Galician town of Xinzo of Limia, immediately issued a nationwide alert and the Civil Guard quickly erected barricades across the province. Even the police in Portugal were notified just in case the alleged kidnappers fled across the border.
Meanwhile, the local press called for information and the public's help to find the boy.
But within two hours, the child was found hiding in an empty apartment belonging to the family, after his father could not find his bunch of keys at their usual place.
The boy explained that he had come up with the elaborate scheme in order to stop his parents from talking to his teacher in a meeting scheduled for that afternoon for fear that they will get angry over his recent bad grades.
"The Civil Guard attributed it to a childish prank that had something to do with the situation of children in school," a report in the local newspaper, said.
"It seems that the parents were supposed to meet with the teacher of the class in the afternoon, something the boy wanted to prevent," a police spokesperson, said.
