(Scroll down for video) A woman who worked as a maid for ultra-Orthodox Jewish families in Rockland County, was arrested and charged with murder for killing her baby, according to police reports New York.
The mother of Baby Angel, whose body was found in a recycling bin in Westchester, has confessed and was charged with murder.
Maria Oliva Guaman-Guaman of Spring Valley, a 23-year-old native of Ecuador, who had been previously deported, asphyxiated her newborn son, possibly because she thought she could not afford another child.
The woman has a 2-year-old daughter, who was placed in foster care following her arrest.
Guaman-Guaman was held without bail after her arrest and arraignment on Tuesday, on a charge of second-degree murder.
The child was found on November 12, after being dumped in a recycling container outside a convenience store, not far from the house of Guaman-Guaman. The child still had his umbilical cord when he was found.
Relatives living with Guaman-Guaman said that they did not know she was pregnant.
"I would have helped with the baby," her brother Luis Guaman, 26, said. "I helped pay her rent and utilities when she was pregnant with her daughter,” he said.
Juan Guaman, 40, her uncle, said that they always spoke, but she did not mention anything about being pregnant.
