A man was arrested, charged and convicted of child rape after he raped a little girl inside his basement, according to court proceedings in Israel.
Osher Argaman, 50, of Bnei Brak was sentenced on Wednesday, to 15 years in prison for raping an 8-year-old girl.
The incident occurred in January 2012, at the apartment building of the girl.
The District Court of Tel Aviv also ordered Argaman to pay 50,000 shekels ($13,000) in compensation to the victim.
The rape occurred around 9:00 a.m., while the girl was on her way to school. She found Argaman at the entrance of the building, and he asked the girl for help in moving something out from his basement.
As soon as they reached the door of the basement, he pushed the little girl inside, sexually assaulted, and threatened her. When the attack ended, he warned her to keep quiet and he gave her 20 shekels ($6).
Despite being convicted and sentenced, Argaman refused to apologize to the victim or accept responsibility for his actions.
