A drunk man was removed from the home of senior Israeli rabbi Aharon Leib Shteinman after he attempted to kill the rabbi in Bnei Brak.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, while the rabbi was meeting with people in his home.

Numerous people were at the rabbi’s home waiting to receive a blessing when suddenly, the strangely dressed drunk man broke into the rabbi’s room and tried to kill him.

People at the scene felt a strong smell of alcohol coming the man as he cursed and shouted slurs while being removed.

The rabbi called police, but the man managed to flee from the scene before police arrived.

Police have launched an investigation, but so far, no arrests have been made.

This was not the first time that the rabbi’s life was in danger. As we reported earlier, a man was arrested and charged with trying to kill a senior Israeli rabbi in Bnei Brak, according to court papers filed by Israeli police.

On October, 23, 2012 at 5:00 a.m., the defendant came to the apartment of Rabbi Aharon Shteinman, opened the front door, which was not locked and entered the apartment.

The defendant went over to the rabbi, who was sitting on his bed, grabbed him by the neck with both hands and squeezed for a short period of time. The defendant was also screaming “I am against Shteinman,” according to the indictment.

The defendant was charged with criminal trespass, common assault, obstructing a police officer on the job and assaulting a police officer in the line of duty.
