The dog that was killed |
A man was arrested and will be charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly stabbed his neighbor’s dog to death, according to police reports in Israel.
Jerusalem Police said that they arrested a local man on Thursday, after he was accused of stabbing his neighbor's dog to death.
Police arrested the man in the Kiryat Yovel neighborhood after neighbors called police to report that a man was walking in the streets with a knife.
Residents told police that the man was telling passersby that he just killed a dog. Officers who arrived at the scene found him covered in blood.
During questioning, the man told police that he went into his neighbor’s yard and killed the dog. The dead dog belonged to one of the suspect’s neighbors. The man did not tell police why he killed the dog.
“The man was walking his 2 dogs when his neighbor’s dog came running over and attacked him. That is when he decided to kill the dog,” a person close to the suspect said.
The suspect’s two dogs were taken by authorities.
"My dog was a good pet and he just stabbed it for no reason. We had it for five years. My daughter is devastated. The kids are in pain because it is like a family member was murdered. I always saw him walking his dogs, but I never imagined he would do such a thing," David, the owner of the dog, said.
