The stolen car |
A father was able to end a kidnapping after swinging into action and locating his stolen vehicle, according to police reports in Israel.
Three Palestinians carjacked an Israeli woman on a road near Ramallah, on Tuesday. They made off with the car while her 1-year-old daughter was in the back seat. The baby's father rushed to the area and later found his car abandoned near the Palestinian village of Dir Abzia. The child was unharmed.
The incident took place around 3:30 p.m., when the woman of Dolev, Mateh Binyamin Regional Council, was on her way home.
"I was driving home and my daughter was in the back seat. I was at an intersection near our city and a car with Israeli license plates crashed into me," she said.
"When I got out of the car to inspect the damage I realized that there were three Arab men inside the other vehicle. One of them came out to ask me if everything was fine, and as we were talking he just got into my car and drove off. I screamed, and I stopped a passing car to use the phone to call police and my husband,” the woman said.
The child's father immediately tried to get help.
"I went out and found one of my neighbors, who was armed, and got into his car and drove to the intersection. I knew that the first moments after an abduction are critical. As we were driving around I noticed my car on the side of the road,” the father said.
