(Scroll down for video) CCTV cameras captured the moment a mother killed her own baby by pushing her into the water together with her stroller.
Fabienne Kabou, 36, moved from Senegal to France, to be with her lover, and they had a baby girl.
However, the child was interfering with her mother’s love life. The mother decided to get rid of her baby named Adelaide.
Kabou told her boyfriend that she had given Adelaide to her mother in Senegal, who had agreed to take care of the child, according to police.
The truth was discovered the next day, when surveillance footage showed the moment Kabou pushed her 15-month old daughter onto the Berck-sur-Mer beach in France, and left the child, who was strapped into her stroller, to drown with the rising tide.
The child was discovered the next day by a fisherman.
Police used DNA to trace the carriage to its owner. After ten days of searching, Kabou was found and arrested at the house she shares with a 63-year-old man in Paris.
She has now been charged with first-degree murder, and is facing life in prison.
"She realizes what she has done. She expressed remorse, and she is not trying make excuses," her lawyer, Fabienne Roy-Nansion, said.
The case has sparked outrage and hundreds took to the streets in protest against the child cruelty.
