South African police arrest a teen illustration |
A group of mothers delivered street justice after a teenager was seen raping a 4-year-old child on the street.
A few kids ware playing on the streets in South Africa, when a teen walked up to them.
He grabbed one of the children and began raping him before moving the child to a nearby abandoned building.
His terrified friends ran to call their mothers, screaming that their friend was being hurt.
The women followed their children to where the teenager was still raping the boy.
The women began beating the half-naked teen. He managed to escape after being stripped of all his clothes.
"How will my child ever recover from this?" Asked the mother of the victim. “What if my child was infected with a deadly disease?" She said
Community members caught up with the teen and began beating him with broomsticks, belts and sticks, before taking him to the Itsoseng police station near Lichtenburg, North West.
Police officers covered up the naked teen with a plastic garbage bag before taking him into custody.
The teen was then taken to a hospital to treat the wounds, which he received at the hands of the angry residents.
The suspect currently has a pending rape charge against him for raping a 72-year-old woman, according to neighbors.
"We have previously threatened to take the law into our own hands if justice is not done. Our justice system is failing us and we are sick of it. We are running out of patience," Jacob Monageng, 38, said.
"We want to teach those who prey on our women and children a lesson they will never forget," Kelebogile Diseko, 30, said.
"I wanted to slice his manhood off before killing him with my own hands. He should rot in jail for what he did to my son. I will never forgive him,” the mother of the victim said.
North West police spokesperson Sergeant Kealeboga Moiloa confirmed that a rape case has been opened and that the teen will appear in court soon.
