A woman will have to put up 500 shekels or about $150 a day until she circumcises her son, according to a ruling by the Netanya Rabbinical Court.

As we reported earlier, a woman was warned to circumcise her son within seven days or face fines, according to court proceedings in Israel.

The Netanya Rabbinical Court, ordered the woman to have her son circumcised, this week.

During divorce proceedings, a husband sued his wife asking the Rabbinical Court in Netanya, to order his wife to circumcise his son. The court accepted the husband’s claims.

The woman claimed that the rabbinical court has no authority over circumcision and only the family court can instruct her to do so. The woman also claimed that circumcision is a dangerous medical procedure and she will not allow her son to be circumcised.

Judges Rabbi Michael Amos, Rabbi Shneur Pardes, and Rabbi Ariel Yanei, rejected her arguments, and ruled that disagreements between spouses can be handled in family court or rabbinical court.

"Circumcision is a simple surgical operation performed for all Jewish boys at eight days old, all over the world for thousands of years, so when one parent demands it, the other parent cannot oppose it, until the parent can prove that it is dangerous,” the court ruled.

"Circumcision is a Jewish identity for every Jewish man, regardless of their religious level. Uncircumcised Jews are considered damaged," the also court wrote.

Therefore, the court ordered the woman to circumcise her son within seven days, and she will face fines if she refuses to comply.

Now, the court has ordered the woman to pay 500 shekels a day until she circumcises her son.
