The home of Israel’s richest man was raided by Swiss Police in Geneva, according to police reports.

The home of Beny Steinmetz has been raided by Swiss police, but nothing was taken.

The raid, which occurred in the last two weeks, was ordered by the prosecutor of Geneva, following a request by the Government of Guinea.

Steinmetz, who is the richest man in Israel, holds a 51 percent stake in the Simandou iron ore deposit in Guinea through its mining company BSG Resources Ltd. His involvement in the country has been the subject to much scrutiny.

In April a U.S grand jury investigated claims that BSG Resources Ltd. had paid bribes to the mining rights in Guinea.
The offices of a company that provides management services to BSG Resources has also been raided by police.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Steinmetz has a net worth of $7.4 billion. BSG Resources, through its unit Octea diamonds, owns the Koidu mine in Sierra Leone.

Earlier this year it was reported that Steinmetz was fighting a $1 billion tax bill in Israel after tax authorities challenged his claim that he does not own or control the Beny Steinmetz Group, but only serves in an advisory capacity.
