A Jewish man was arrested and charged with assault related charges after allegedly stabbing an Arab taxi driver, according to police reports in Israel.
The Jerusalem District Attorney filed criminal charges against Barak Zakaim, 23, of Gilo, Jerusalem on Tuesday, for stabbing an Arab taxi driver.
Jerusalem Police said that Zakaim and several members of his family, have been regularly harassing employees of Moniot Gilo Taxi, which is owned by an Arab, and where many of the drivers are Arabs. The defendant and others have attacked the station in the past, according to court documents.
Several months ago, the defendant ordered a taxi from the station.
Five minutes later, the victim, who was on duty at the station at the time, went to the location and saw the defendant, who was wearing a hoodie. The defendant got into the car and sat in the passenger seat. He asked the driver to take him to Hatzuf Street in the Gilo neighborhood of Jerusalem.
When the taxi arrived at the destination, the defendant opened the door to leave, but then turned around and stabbed the victim several times in the chest, back and legs with a sharp object. He then fled from the scene.
