Metal stool leg in man's brain |
(Scroll down for video) A man is lucky to be alive after a metal stool leg pierced 4 inches of his brain, according to hospital officials in Russia.
Hospital officials released some amazing x-ray images, which show how a man's skull was impaled by a metal stool leg, and well into his brain.
Incredibly, the man, who is believed to have been the victim of a vicious bar brawl in Serbia, Russia, lived to tell his story.
Surgeons of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Hospital were able to remove the metal leg without any complications.
"The man spent two weeks in the intensive care unit in serious but stable condition," Neurosurgeon Dr. Pavel Rudenko said.
Since coming to the hospital, the man, who is believed to be between 40 and 45-years-old, has been able to move and eat well, but he still faces a long period of rehabilitation, doctors said.
"The patient seems to be suffering from a serious motor function disorder, but he is still recovering," Hospital spokesperson Irina Kochetkova said.
Russian police said they would interview the man about what happened, as soon as the doctors allow them to talk to the man.
"He came to the hospital in an ambulance without papers or explanation of how the injury happened," a spokesperson for the police said.
