(Scroll down for video) A bar mitzvah boy, who became popular in the United States after releasing a bar mitzvah video in which he is seen dancing with scantily clad women, has donated thousands of dollars to Israeli children in need.
Sam Horowitz, who lives in Dallas, Texas and his parents, asked guests at the bar mitzvah to make a contribution to the Ben Yakir Youth Village in lieu of gifts, and requested that those who watch the bar mitzvah dance performance online to do the same.
So far, $36,000 has been donated to the youth village, which is home to 120 children, 12 to 18-years-old, mostly from Ethiopia. Ben Yakir offers a wide range of activities that reinforce classroom studies and allow students to learn to express themselves constructively.
These activities include karate, horse riding, sports, music, dance, arts and crafts, woodwork and ceramics. Ben Yakir also has its own farm and zoo, which is maintained largely by students.
In the bar mitzvah video, Sam wore a sparkling white suit and descended from the ceiling in a huge spider in the splendid ballroom of the Dallas Omni Hotel at his bar mitzvah. He then danced with a group of professional dancers.
Since Horowitz’s video went viral, he has appeared on "Good Morning America". He also put on a show in New York City.
