(Scroll down for video) A woman was left traumatized after she was kicked off a bus and received a fine because she did not have exact change to pay her fare.

Montreal Transit officials in Canada, said they were looking into a $219 fine imposed on a woman, who was kicked off a bus along with her son, for not having exact change.

Pauline Tantost, 24, filed a complaint with transit officials last about the incident, which she said began when she took out a $5 bill to pay the $3 fare.

Transit Spokesperson Amelie Regis said an internal investigation is being conducted on the driver and officials are asking other agency employees for their version of the events.

Tantost said she was just trying to get home with her son, Xavier, after a long visit at the Montreal Children's Hospital on Friday. She got on the bus at 10:00 pm, but did not have the necessary $3. She had a $5 bill, but the driver refused to take her and warned her that she could be fined by inspectors if she stayed on board without a ticket.

Tantost refused to disembark and of course, inspectors soon came on board the bus and asked to see her ticket. Then, the mother and son were escorted to the curb and were left there with a fine of $219.

"I left the bus on my own because I felt bad, I could not stop crying, I did not want everyone to see me like that," Tantost said.

Transit officials said it was the driver who called inspectors. Wayne Larsen, another passenger who witnessed the scene, said: "To me, it seemed that it was an ambush, because these guys came up and confronted her immediately."
