A critically injured man was transported to a local hospital after being stabbed in the back while enjoying himself in a Jerusalem park, according to police reports in Israel.
Jerusalem Police said that a man is in critical condition after being stabbed Wednesday afternoon at Liberty Bell Park.
The 50-year-old was stabbed in the back and hand, according to Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld. the man told police that he was stabbed by an Arab man inside the park's bathroom.
He was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem.
Police immediately launched spread out in the area and stopped a vehicle that may have been carrying a possible suspect, a person close to the investigation said, but details about the incident are still unclear. The motive for the attack is still unknown.
"The police units continue to search the Jerusalem area for suspects after the stabbing," Rosenfeld said in a statement, adding that an investigation has been launched.
It is not clear if the attack was criminal related or nationalistically motivated, therefore, it cannot be classified as a terror attack at this time.
