A police officer was left in terrible pain after a suspect bit off a piece of his arm during a traffic stop, according to police reports in Florida.

Orlando Police said that a fight began almost as soon as a police officer stopped a car with faulty lights.
During the fight, Akil Asim Horsford’s weapon malfunctioned, so he decided to take a bite out of an officer's arm.

Horsford, 23, began arguing when officers ordered him to come out of his car parked at Pershing Pointe Apartments after they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car on Wednesday night, according to a police report.
Horsford, police said, pulled a gun, pointed it at an officer and pulled the trigger. Luckily for the officer, the gun malfunctioned.

That is when a physical altercation began, and at some point, Horsford bit the police officer.
Finally, the police detained the man and charged him with a number of crimes, including attempted murder of a police officer.
He's a former convict, who served time for armed robbery, aggravated assault and sexually abusing a teenager under 16 years of age.

The traffic stop occurred shortly before 11:00 pm and quickly became a fight with Horsford attacking Brian Wood, police said.
"The defendant rolled onto his back, pointed a black handgun at officer Wood and pulled the trigger," the arrest report states. "However, the gun did not work," it continues.

The officer tried to pull his own gun. That is when Horsford bit off a piece of his forearm.
The police charged Horsford with attempted first-degree murder of a police officer with a firearm, aggravated assault against a police officer and aggravated assault on a police officer with a firearm.

He was also charged with two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a concealed firearm, two counts of resisting an officer of the law without violence and two counts of resisting an officer with violence.
