A woman was rushed to the hospital after she accidentally swallowed a toothbrush, according to emergency workers in Israel.
Magen David Adom officials said that a 35-year-old woman needed medical care after she swallowed her toothbrush, and could not pull it out of her throat. She was taken to Rambam Hospital in Haifa in stable condition. Doctors were able to pull the plastic object from her throat without surgery.
The incident took place last night, when the woman came to the Zevulun Medical Center with half of a toothbrush in her hand. Apparently, the toothbrush slipped into the woman's throat after she tried to brush the back of her teeth. Magen David Adom rescue workers, who responded to the scene, observed the other half of the toothbrush sticking out of the woman's throat.
After trying to give her first aid and pull out the toothbrush, paramedics took her to Rambam Hospital in Haifa in light condition. Once there, a medical team was able to remove the toothbrush. Then, she was discharged from the hospital.
This was not the first time that an Israeli woman swallowed a toothbrush. Last year, a 20-year-old accidentally swallowed a toothbrush. Doctors pulled out the toothbrush from the woman’s stomach.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
