The hero of the day is the Israeli military dog.
A military official said that an Israeli military dog has uncovered a cache of weapons hidden inside a mattress during a military operation conducted Wednesday night in a Palestinian village near Nablus.
A soldier of the IDF Oketz Unit discovered, with the help of the military dog, firearms and ammunition hidden in the home of a Palestinian man suspected of terrorist activities.
Givati Unit soldiers, along with the Oketz Canine Unit of the IDF, raided the village of Bita Al Fuka, near Nablus early Thursday after receiving a tip about a suspected terrorist.
After locating the suspect's home, military officials took the man into custody and were ready to leave the house, but the dog refused to go. Its refusal to leave prompted a soldier to search the suspect's bed mattress. The soldier cut it open, thereby finding the hidden weapons.
The suspect was brought in for questioning and the Israeli army said no one was injured during the raid.
