The city of Beitar Illit |
A Beitar Illit girl, 2, was rushed to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital in Jerusalem for extensive tests after police feared she may have been raped numerous times, according to a statement released by Israeli police.
Police investigators meanwhile, launched an investigation into the incident and are questioning an ultra-Orthodox Jewish family in the Israeli controlled West Bank city of Beitar Illit. So far, the police made no arrests.
The investigation began after the girl’s parents brought their toddler to the local medical clinic. After various tests were conducted, suspicion arose among the medical staff that the two-year-old was raped.
Later, the child was transferred to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. The medical staff immediately called the police to further investigate the incident.
Police said, however, said that they are having difficulty speaking to the child as she understands only Yiddish. Police also said that it was possible that the child was injured while playing at a park.
Police are now waiting for test results from the Abu Kabir medical center in order to have conclusive evidence.
