Glendon Scott Crawford |
(Scroll down for video) The Federal Bureau of Investigations arrested and charged several New York men of aiding terrorists after being caught building a special weapon in order to help eliminate the enemies of Israel, according to a statement released by the FBI in New York.
Glendon Scott Crawford, 49, who has been arrested by the FBI, is accused of trying to sell a special X-ray gun to Jewish groups in upstate New York. According to the charges, Crawford is a member of the Ku Klux Klan, a group not usually friendly with Jews.
He was arrested on Tuesday and the charges were unsealed Wednesday.
Crawford worked as a mechanic for General Electric in Albany and was supposedly building a deadly X-ray weapon, along with his colleague Eric Feight, 54. The two men were arrested by the FBI Anti-Terrorism Task Force of Albany. The device, which Feight supposedly designed, could be mounted on a truck and allegedly emit a deadly dose of radiation.
The device was never completed, but Crawford discussed the acquisition of radioactive material, such as X-ray tubes with an undercover FBI agent. The FBI investigation began in April 2012 when Crawford visited a local synagogue to discuss a weapon that could "be used by Israel to defeat its enemies, namely, to kill the enemies of Israel in their sleep".
The FBI was tipped off after a member of the synagogue contacted police.
Crawford and Feight were charged with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists and could face up to 15 years in prison, with a possible $250,000 fine, if convicted.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
