A Jerusalem boy is lucky to be alive after falling from a second floor balcony onto the cement streets floor below, according to emergency workers in Jerusalem, Israel.
The incident happened this morning on Techelet Mordechai Street where the boy, 5, who was playing on the second floor balcony, suddenly fell down below. The child fell from a height of about 20 feet and was moderately wounded.

United Hatzalah paramedics and Magen David Adom rescue workers arrived at the scene of the incident. Both teams administered first aid to the wounded child. The child was taken by an ambulance to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital in moderate condition with abdominal injuries.

Sagi Gleitman, a Magen David Adom paramedic, who arrived first on the scene said: "We received a call about a child, who fell from a height of about 20 feet. When we arrived, we found the boy, 5, on the sidewalk, fully conscious with abrasions and abdominal injuries. Apparently, the boy fell from the balcony on the second floor, while playing there. As he was falling from a height of about 20 feet, objects in the way softened the child’s blow."

Dvir Adani, an emergency worker of United Hatzalah, said: "The boy, who played on the balcony, fell over for unknown reasons. The child suffered bruises on his head and stomach. Miraculously, he was conscious when we arrived at the scene. After we gave him first aid, he was taken to the hospital."

Techelet Mordechai Street is home to a large ultra-Orthodox Jewish community from England and the United States.
