A Jewish home was attacked with a message of “Go Away Jew”, according to a statement by the FBI in Ohio.
Two incidents occurred against the home of a Jewish family in Oakwood in the past three weeks are being investigated by police and the FBI as crimes of ethnic intimidation.
Swastikas and the words “Go Away Jew", were painted in red on the home. Several vehicles in the garage were damaged. Nothing was reported stolen.
"The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made," Oakwood Public Safety Director Alex Bebris, said. "That is the only statement that we have right now.
We are working with Oakwood Police Department to determine whether or not the crime was fueled by ethnicity or religious hatred," FBI agent Eric Thomas, said.
The first attack saw damages in the amount of $3,000 according to reports.
No evidence of property damage was visible from the streets of the neighborhood on Friday afternoon.
The family bought the house in 2008.
Beth Adelman, director of the Dayton Jewish Community Relations, said the family had been warned by police not to speak of the crimes.
Adelman said the incidents were discussed Wednesday night during a previously scheduled presentation to students at Beth Abraham Synagogue in Oakwood. The program was about the best way to respond to anti-Semitism and anti-Israeli protests.
