A grandmother and her friend have been arrested after a young boy was spotted driving them around.
The two women, one of whom was the child’s grandmother, of Kenner, Louisiana, were taken into custody after making the 10-year-old boy drive them home because they were too drunk to drive.
Louisiana police responded to a call of a vehicle that is driving recklessly on Interstate 10. After the officer pulled the car over and went to speak with the driver, the officer discovered that the driver was a 10-year-old boy.
There were three passengers in the car, the boy's grandmother, another woman along with a 15-year-old. According to police, the women told officers that they asked the boy to drive them because they were intoxicated.
The boy's grandmother, 54-year-old Brenda Byrd, and 48-year-old Sheila Joiner, were arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a motor vehicle.
The young driver and the 15-years-old passenger were released to family members.
