Goodes points out young girl who called him “ape”
By: Sarah Weiss

(Scroll down for video) A young girl was escorted out of a football stadium after she shouted a racial slur at one of the players.

During the game, while Adam Goodes was running for the ball, he heard a 13-year-old girl call him an “ape.”

The indigenous Australian football player was offended by the remark and had security remove the girl from the stadium. Goodes, who had been called names before this incident, said he felt he was being bullied and responded by pointing the girl out to security staff who then escorted the girl off the premises.

The 13-year-old girl named Julia, was taken to police for questioning. Police then spoke with Goodes. He did not want to press charges against the young girl.

In a statement, Goodes said: "It's not her fault, she is 13-years-old, she is still so innocent. I do not put any blame on her. Unfortunately, it's what she hears in the environment in which she’s growing up, and that caused her to believe that it's okay to call people names."

“I am surprised that with all the noise of screaming fans and the announcers, Goodes was able to hear the comment made by the 13-year-old girl,” Barry Porter, 30, of Bismarck, North Dakota, told YourJewishNews.com after watching the video. The girl publicly apologized to Goodes and his fans. She said that she did not mean to offend anyone, and she was very sorry.

After the girl apologized, Goodes asked people to support the girl. "Just received a phone call from the young girl who apologized for her actions. Let's support her please,” Goodes tweeted.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
