The world's longest Shabbat table |
The Shabbat table and the ultra-Orthodox Jews, will soon enter the Guinness World Records after the world’s longest Shabbat table was unveiled in the Israeli city of Bnei Brak.
The table, which is nearly 200 feet long, comfortably seats more than 300 people and includes all the classic symbols of Shabbat, including a tablecloth, challah, bowls, candlesticks and everything else.
The group behind the project invited hundreds of people, including celebrities and journalists of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish sector in Israel, to sit at the table and enjoy a Shabbat meal, just before Shabbat.
Coca-Cola Israel, which is based in Bnei Brak, and the ultra-Orthodox Jewish advertising agency Meimad, joined together to create the project.
"The ultra-Orthodox Jewish public as a consumer sector cannot identify with normal business messages such as sports, the beach or music, because those things are not in their world of values," an ultra-Orthodox Jewish advertiser said.
“It is nice to see a religious Jewish world record recorded in the Guinness World Records, as a religious Jewish record will probably be another record,” Yakov Schwartz, 20, of Brooklyn, New York told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the world’s longest Shabbat table.
The world's longest Shabbat table will also be competing for the title of the world’s best prepared food table.
