A veteran Italian politician has finally decided to move from Italy to Israel, and become an Israeli citizen, according to a statement released by her office.

The woman, who was born in Florence, Italy and lived in Rome, also served as Member of Parliament on behalf of Silvio Berlusconi's conservative party. One day, Fiamma Nirenstein decided it was time to leave Italy behind and immigrate to Israel.
Within months, Nirenstein’s holiday apartment in Jerusalem will become her permanent resident.

"You cannot just talk about Zionism, it is time to do something as well," she said. The woman, who was one of the most outspoken activists in Italy against anti-Semitism and anti-Israel propaganda, has decided it's time to fulfill an old dream and become a citizen of the State of Israel. She also said that she might run for a seat in the Israeli Knesset.

“Her announcement made me really happy. I can’t wait to have Nirenstein live right here in Israel with all of us. She is a true friend of Israel and of the entire Jewish nation. She fought all her life so Jews can leave in peace around the world,” Gerald Payne, 23, of Jerusalem, Israel told YourJewishNews.com after learning about Nirenstein’s move to Israel.

As we reported earlier, An Italian Jewish politician has announced that she quit politics in order to move to Israel.

“I want to return to Israel and also receive Israeli citizenship. I intend to do so after so many years, for some good reasons.
Unfortunately, anti-Semitism in the world is on the rise and also because I believe that today, Israel is the only country that offers the prospect of an educated and intelligent future.

It is a country where people have an easier lifestyle, show solidarity, which is a major force in patriotism and a deep sense of life,” Fiamma Nirenstein said.

With these words, Fiamma Nirenstein, who is the Vice- President of the Foreign Affairs Commission, announced her intention not to stand in the upcoming elections and instead leave Italy for Israel.

"I was deeply disappointed when Italy voted in favor of Palestine, which upgraded it to the status of a non-member state at the United Nations,” she also said.
