The Jewish community in Texas is under fear after receiving a bomb threat, according to a statement released by Texas police.
The Houston Jewish learning center shut down on Thursday after receiving a bomb threat, officials said.
Congregation Beth Israel, a sector of the Miriam Browning Jewish Learning Center, notified parents of the threat in an email sent on Wednesday.
Center officials decided to close the school early on Wednesday and notified the Houston Police Department, the Anti-Defamation League, the FBI, and Department of Homeland Security, the email said.
Officials and staff searched the campus on Wednesday, and bomb-sniffing dogs will be on site Thursday morning, the email stated. The campus will reopen on Friday with security personnel.
“The school did the right thing by shutting down the school until police are sure that no bombs were planted. These days, with increased terror attacks worldwide, the Jewish community cannot take any chances,” Gary King, 43, of San Antonio, Texas told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the bomb threat.
"As always, our first priority is the safety of our students," Barbara Garber, director of the center, said in the email.
