Murder suspects in court |
(Scroll down for video) An Orthodox Jewish couple in Jerusalem were arrested and charged with murder related charges after the two plotted and killed the man’s former wife, according to a statement released by Israeli police in Jerusalem.
The husband and wife from the Neve Yaakov neighborhood in northern Jerusalem, have been arrested for allegedly murdering his ex-wife and dismembering her body.
The man, 43-year-old Zev Gorlik, has confessed to the crime. His wife however, denied the allegations.
The man’s former wife, Iris Gorlik-Vasiliev, 39, disappeared two days ago. Her current husband reported her missing and filed a complaint with police.
Police searched the area and at one point tried to check Gorlik’s house, but Gorlik did not open the door. After the officers did not see Gorlik-Vasiliev’s car parked in the vicinity, the officers left the scene.
They returned the next day after phone records indicated that Gorlik-Vasiliev was in the area. Police entered the apartment and found her body in the shower. Her body was dismembered.
“This is a terrible crime. The couple should be severely punished by the court for what they did. These two are animals for murdering a woman in front of little children. What Jewish parent does such a thing in front of their little kids?” Jennifer Brown, 22, of Yonkers, New York told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the murder.
Gorlik has recently stopped paying child support for his two children, ages 9 and 13.
Gorlik’s children with his current wife were in their apartment when he murdered his former wife. The children, aged 4 and 2, are now in the care of social services.
