Woman shows off her makeup face |
An Orthodox Jewish woman is pissed that her 24-hour makeup did not last the promised 24 hours, so she decided to sue the makeup maker for damages, according to a new lawsuit filed in New York court.
The Orthodox Jewish woman is suing the makeup giant Lancome, claiming that its "24 hours" foundation does not really last that long, and therefore does not stay on her face from Friday evening until Saturday night, or the Jewish Sabbath.
Rorie Weisberg of Monsey, New York said the French manufacturer of luxury-cosmetics, is guilty of misleading advertising when it claims its new Teint Idole Ultra 24H offers a full day and night of lasting perfection.
Since it does not last for 24 hours she cannot look sexy all through Shabbat, the woman claimed in her lawsuit.
"The 24 hours promise was critical to the buying decision of the plaintiff, as a long lasting makeup achieves two goals, adhering to religious laws and improving her physical appearance," the lawsuit said.
Court documents said that Weisberg, "is a Jew and is governed by Orthodox Jewish law by not applying makeup from sunset on Friday until Saturday night." This means that the makeup would have been crucial in helping the woman keep Jewish law.
"Specifically, the eldest son of the woman is having his bar mitzvah celebration in June and the plaintiff sought a permanent makeup that achieves the two objectives at the bar mitzvah which will be celebrated on Shabbat," the lawsuit said.
The lawsuit stated that the makeup disappeared overnight.
“I think the woman filed a frivolous lawsuit since she went to bed with her makeup and her pillow probably wiped her makeup off from her face. I am pretty sure that if she stayed awake for the entire 24 hour period her makeup would stay on her face,” Pamela Williams, 21, of Brooklyn, New York told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the lawsuit.
The woman is seeking unspecified damages.
