The cancer patient in France has saved the life of the ambulance driver who suffered a heart attack, by taking over the wheel of the ambulance and driving to the hospital.
While on his way to the hospital with the patient, the ambulance driver suddenly became sick. He had symptoms of a heart attack. The brave passenger, Cristiano Nayet, who is 60-years-old from the northern city of Berck-sur-mer, took over the wheel and rushed the driver to the hospital.
Nayet said that he told the driver: “Give me the keys, trust me, my life is not in danger, but your’s is.” That is exactly what the driver did. He handed Nayet the keys and Nayet rushed him to the nearest hospital.
“The driver is lucky that his patient was well enough to rush him to the hospital. Things could've turned deadly if the driver suddenly had a heart attack without having someone to take over the wheel,” Adele Martin, 36, from Toulouse, France told YourJewishnews.com after hearing about the heroic cancer patient.
"I could not find the siren, but I managed to turn on the lights and told him to put his arm out the window to signal the cars to let us pass," Nayet said.
“They went to the area reserved for ambulances, and the driver of the ambulance was immediately admitted to the emergency room,” hospital emergency room manager Frederic Allienne said.
Doctors operated on the driver shortly after his arrival.
Another ambulance arrived and took Nayet to the hospital where he was to be treated.
