The hateful poster |
The Israeli public is fuming after a Satmar rabbi ordered his followers to beat up Israeli soldiers, according flyers distributed throughout Jerusalem, Israel.
In the midst of the debate on the issue of equality and on the equal burden of army service, wall posters were hung across Jerusalem which calls on Satmar Jews to humiliate and assault Israeli soldiers who enter a synagogue. Other posters called on Satmar Jews not to use the services of the Egged bus company, because prostitutes are on those buses. Some ultra-Orthodox Jews expressed outrage at those behind these extreme rulings.
The rabbi who issued these rulings was identified as Rabbi Moshe Zev Zorger, who is considered as the head of the Satmar community in Jerusalem, Israel. The posters specifically calls on Satmar Jews to yell at Israeli soldiers: “Get out. You are a filthy man.”
The poster also said that Jews who want their children to remain Jewish must join this holy battle. The rabbi also ruled that no Jew is allowed to talk to an Israeli soldier, as their presence defile the Jewish State of Israel. The poster also orders to physically pick up and throw out the Israeli soldier from the synagogue.
Satmar is considered one of the most extreme in the Orthodox Jewish society, and one of the most recognizable community fighting against Israel and the Zionist enterprise.
“This rabbi is despicable, as he calls on Jews to hate and hit other Jews. He is an animal and doesn't deserve the title rabbi. The Israeli police should charge the rabbi with inciting violence against the Israeli armed forces,” David Pinsky, 46, of Brooklyn, New York told YourJewishNews.com after seeing the posters.
The Samar founder, Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum, sees Zionism as the source of all impurity of the whole world.
