Orthodox Jewish man wrapped in plastic

An ultra-Orthodox Jewish man went through great lengths in order to be completely segregated from the world. The man, who remains unnamed so far, was photographed completely wrapped in plastic during an airplane flight, according to photos uploaded to the internet.

The man, was also entirely dressed in black beneath the folds of plastic, which was tied at the top of his head.
The photo was posted to a popular internet social media website on Thursday amid rumors that the man might be one of the descendants of Aharon, the great priest of ancient Israel, who are banned from flying over cemeteries.

"In Orthodox Judaism, descendants of Aharon the great priest, are expected to refrain from contact with the dead, including the prohibition of visiting cemeteries except for funerals of 7 specific close relatives,” a rabbi told YourJewishNews.com.

The man, might have thought that by wrapping himself in a plastic bag, he might not technically be considered as being in or over a cemetery. Many Jewish scholars disagree.

Some Israeli flights make an effort to take specific routes to avoid flying over cemeteries. Passengers can also be informed in advance if a body will be on board the cargo section of the plane.

“What this man did is definitely very weird. I never saw this in my life. I wonder how he was able to breathe inside the plastic for so long,” Amy Winter, 20, of Kansas City, Missouri told YourJewishNews.com after seeing the photo.
